About the author: 

Sir Malcolm Evans KCMG OBE is Professor of Public International Law, University of Bristol. He is a member and Chair of the UN Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture (the SPT). From 2002 - 2013 he was a member of the OSCE ODIHR Advisory Council on the Freedom of Religion or Belief.
