The stories begin to move away from familiar settings and into worlds of fantasy. The magic key, found in Stage 4, is used to transport the characters into adventures. These are extremely popular with children, and often provide the starting point for their own writing. Children will have a good sight vocabulary of just over 100 words, they will be able to decode words, and use the illustrations to make meaning from the text.
