Course Content

Our increasingly interconnected world requires today’s young students to develop essential skills in the 4Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

This course will introduce you to a wide range of practical methods on how to integrate the 4Cs into your EFL teaching. The content is ideal for teachers of primary school students in Japan who study English around once or twice a week.

Throughout the day there will be opportunities to talk about your own experiences, share knowledge and exchange ideas.

Course material will be delivered in English only.

Kaj Schwermer(Co-author, Oxford Phonics World)

Kaj Schwermer is the co-author of Oxford Phonics World and is renowned for his very active and entertaining presentations. He has been teaching EFL learners in Kansai for over twenty years and currently runs the oral communication and international programs at Suma Gakuen Jr./Sr. High School in Kobe.

Naoko Ashikawa (Oxford University Press)

Naoko Ashikawa currently works at Oxford University Press as a Content Marketing Executive and presenter. She has over 10 years experience as a teacher and teacher-trainer and has a very engaging and natural style of teaching and presenting.

Rob Peacock(Oxford University Press)

Rob Peacock currently works at Oxford University Press as an Educational Services Consultant and course coordinator of the Oxford Teachers' Academy. He has spent over 15 years in Japan teaching students of all ages as well as providing teacher support and workshops.

PRESENTERS

Kathleen Kampa and Charles Vilina (Authors, Magic Time; Co-authors, Everybody Up, Oxford Discover)

Kathleen Kampa and Charles Vilina are American ELT authors and teacher-trainers who have taught young learners in Japan for over 25 years. They are co-authors of Magic Time, Everybody Up, and Oxford Discover. They are active teachers who promote an inquiry-based approach to learning, where students develop English language fluency as they discover the world around them.

Kevin Churchley

Kevin Churchley has worked with young learners of English in Japan, Singapore, and the UK for over twenty-eight years. Kevin has a long-held interest in the power of stories to energize the language-learning classroom. He currently teaches English and Art at a private high school in Saitama.
