Active Learning for the Primary Cross-Curricular Classroom 児童向け教科横断型授業のためのアクティブラーニング
We often hear that people remember 20% of what they hear and 70% of what they say and write, but is this true? In this session, after reviewing the benefits of cross-curricular classes for the primary EFL classroom, we will look at the importance of active learning. Using material from Oxford Read and Discover, participants will have a chance to experience the difference between learning information through lecture and learning through activities. Finally, we will assess whether the lecture-based approach or active learning is more effective.

このプレゼンテーションでは、児童を対象とする外国語としての英語の授業における教科横断型授業の利点を振り返り、アクティブラーニングの重要性について考察していきます。Oxford Read and Discover を使い、講義形式で受ける学習情報と、アクティビティを通して得る学びの違いを体験していただきます。最終的に講義形式の授業とアクティブラーニングのどちらがより効果的か評価します。

Learner-centered 15-minute Activities 15分モジュール授業を充実させましょう
In 2020, English is to become an official subject in the 5th and 6th grades. Trial practice starts in 2018. MEXT suggests dividing one of the two weekly lessons into three 15-minute modules. 15 minutes goes in a jiffy. We need to plan meaningful short lessons that motivate and help children to learn in a limited time. The presenter will demonstrate ways to plan a series of lessons that have continuity and introduce classroom-tested activities.
2020年、小学校5-6学年で英語が教科になります。2018年度からの先行実施では、現行より増える1コマを15分のモジュールとして組み込む可能性があります。15分はあっという間です。準備して意味のある授業をしましょう。このプレゼンテーションでは、子どもが主体的に学習でき、前時・次時と一貫性のある15分の活動作成を提唱し、小学校で実践した活動例を紹介します。

子どもたちが以前に比べて先生の話を集中して聞かなくなったと感じることはありますか？テクノロジーの普及やペースの速い生活が、子どもたちの気を散らす要因となっているとも言えるでしょう。生徒たちの注意を引き付け、集中して話を聞かせるようにするにはどうすればよいでしょうか。

このプレゼンテーションでは、集中して聞くことができるように、そしてもっと上手く話せるように、教師は実際にどのように指導するべきかをデモンストレーションします。Everybody Up (第２版)の語彙、文法、歌、ストｰリーを取り上げながら、リスニング強化のための様々な指導法をご紹介します。

Multisensory Teaching Techniques for 4-skill Success 多感覚を用いた4技能の指導法
We should teach in ways best suited to the subject we are teaching. Since we use multiple senses when using language, the most effective teaching techniques will also be multisensory. When students have limited contact with English each week, we also want to try and include listening, speaking, reading and writing in every class.
私たち教師はそれぞれの教科に最も適した教え方をするべきです。言語活動においては複数の感覚を使用するため、最も効果的な指導法は多感覚を用いた方法ということになります。特に1週間に英語に触れる機会が多くない生徒には、毎回の授業できちんと各4技能を採り入れて指導していきたいものです。
