This epitome, misattributed to Arcadius, is one of the two main sources for Herodian's highly influential lost work on ancient Greek prosody, De Prosodia Catholica, which has had a substantial and lasting impact on our understanding of the ancient rules of Greek accentuation and other aspects of grammar. This new critical edition contains an extensive introduction, critical apparatus, apparatus of parallel passages, and the first full commentary on the text, which discusses in detail corrupt passages and features of the text which have never been examined before.
