About the author: 

Fredrick M. Cady, Professor, Montana State University
Frederick M. Cady received the BSEE from the Pennsylvania State University, the MSEE from the California Institute of Technology, and the Ph. D. from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Dr. Cady joined the Montana State University Electrical Engineering department in 1980, where he teaches computer and microcomputer hardware and software engineering. His research activities include biomedical engineering, visual signal processing, astronomical image processing, and electro-optics and electro-optical system engineering. Dr. Cady has been honored with several teaching awards including MSU Bozeman Mortar Board Professor of the Month, MSU Alumni-Chamber of Commerce Award for Excellence and the Phi Kappa Phi Anna Krueger Fridley Award for Distinguished Teaching.
